Latest Updates from Our Project:

Bonus Goal and Original Art
over 5 years ago – Tue, Jul 24, 2018 at 05:27:54 PM

Hi Gang,

I wanted to check in, and say that after work today I will be taking a 16 hour flight to Vietnam. So if you have any messages or questions I will answer them as soon as I land. I will be spending the remainder of the campaign there, but wi-fi shouldn't be an issue if you need to reach me.

Also we're almost 60% funded, with two more weeks to go! That's huge! We're continually making steady progress and we have you to thank for that. As an incentive to keep sharing, if we can get funded by this time next week (Tuesday July 31st), I will include a 8.5 x 11 print of the bonus Jim Rugg pin-up in the packages of all physical backers!

As of right now, this is not even available for purchase, and you would get it for free! But just remember, we need to do it by that set date to unlock it. That way we still have one more week to continuing funding for production towards issue #2. You all have given more than enough, and I want to reward and thank you for that. So let's get the word out! Feel free to use either of these images and links to do it:

In other news, Jim Rugg's amazing original art for the pin-up and variant cover arrived in the mail, and after seeing it first hand they look amazing. I did not want to offer it as a reward option until making sure it arrived safe and sound, but Jim packed them expertly. As of now they are up and available, so this tier would be a great option to share with any original art fans.

Last but not least, I wanted to point out an excellent campaign running now. If you’re a fan of giant airships, revenge stories, or just beautiful art, then look no further. After an amazing group of issues, the team is collecting the first four in a phenomenal looking hardcover. I’ve known Ray and Pablo (digitally) for a few years now and they couldn’t be a nicer group of creators. Check these books out here if you haven’t already.

That's all for now! Thanks again for the continued support. We're really excited to get Lazlo out into the world.

Best,

Andrew

A New Pin Up & Commissions
almost 6 years ago – Fri, Jul 20, 2018 at 11:18:55 AM

Hey Gang,

I wanted to announce that we will be having a bonus Jim Rugg pin-up included! That means digital or otherwise, you get more fantastic artwork added to your book! You have all been amazing, and more than deserve it. You can check out the image below:

In addition, after some questions about commissions from Goran, I brought it to his attention. We will have 3 slots available for anyone interested in digital commissions of any character of their choosing. This package will include both versions of the book, and art prints. Here's a few examples of his past creations:

That's all for now. I hope you dig the new pin-up. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'll try to get back to you ASAP.

Best,

Andrew

Almost halfway there!

Hey Gang,

In our last update we were just under 30%, and now in almost no time at all we're practically 50% funded! A huge thank you for all your support and helping to get the word out. Keep up the great work!

I also wanted to include a little behind the scenes process bit for Lazlo. Here's a look at what went into creating his best friend and bodyguard, Nico. Below was her initial concept sketch.

Although I really dug her like this, she had a little bit too much of a "kid sister" vibe. So I threw out the suggestion, of more of a "college girlfriend" look, and Goran came up with this.

Now my college girlfriend never had pink hair or a katana sword, but dammit if this doesn't look great right?! And the rest was history...

I hope that little tidbit was enjoyable. So before we wrap up, I wanted to point out some fantastic books I backed recently! There's is SOOO much quality out there now folks, and it feels good to be campaigning alongside them.

First off is Metalshark Bro, by an awesome group of creators made up by Bob Frantz, Kevin Cuffe, and Walter Ostlie. It's a classic shark meets demon, demon transforms shark into a sharkman, shark vows vengeance on demon story. It's got everything you could ask for: Anthropomorphic sharks, fantasy elements and demons, and of course heavy metal. If this was around when I was in high school, I probably would've made it my new religion. This book looks absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to read it.

How awesome is that? So much more to check out on their page here

Next up is We Have to Go Back, by Jordan Alsaqa and Sally Cantirino, and edited by Danny Lore. Now I was a big fan of Sally and Danny on Twitter already, so this was a no brainer for me. The story takes place a year after an apocalyptic event, when two women find their relationship in peril as they struggle to decide their best shot at survival.

I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic stories, and the art is killer. You can tell writer Jordan put a lot of heart into this script, and it shows in Sally's art. Definitely check it out here

That's all for now. More process and updates coming soon! Feel free to message me if you have any questions or suggestions, and I'll try to respond as fast as I can. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Best,

Andrew

We're off to a great start!

Hey Gang,

We made it to almost 30% on the first day, so I just wanted to say a big thank you for making that possible! I also noticed we're "popular" on Kickstarter, so digital high fives all around.

Fingers crossed we can get this campaign funded in the first week. If that happens, I promise to have some fantastic free digital comics for all of you, and then it's onto the stretch goals. I have some ideas I'd love to explore, and some really talented artists to collaborate with.

How about this? If you share this campaign, and take a screen shot. I'll write a personalized haiku for you. That's a big deal, because I won 27 metals in high school for that (not really at all...) But hey, it's a start!

Also, I've had a blast making the rounds doing interviews, talking process and what went into creating Lazlo if you're interested:

I think that's everything. Alright team, break!
