Surveys Sent!
over 5 years ago – Sat, Aug 25, 2018 at 12:10:49 AM

Hey Gang,

The funds have officially been transferred over, and the surveys have been sent via Backerkit!

The next phase, will be sending out the digital reward downloads. Currently the plan is to have those available by the end of next week, also through Backerkit. They're a great service and make it easy to complete your surveys, do add-ons for additional items, and keep track of shipping information. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.

One thing I wanted to mention, we did add a question to the survey regarding joining our newsletter. We send this out roughly once a month (or every other month more recently), updating you on our latest projects, convention schedules, and whatever we're enjoying/absorbing at the moment. Just as an example, here's some art for some other projects we have going on at Grenade Fight Ink currently:

Beautiful art right? Lot's of fun stuff ahead. Expect to hear from me again regarding the digital rewards, but I'm here if you need me. You can direct message or email me at [email protected] if you have any issues filling out or receiving your surveys.

Have a great weekend!

Best,

Andrew

Hey Gang,

Watching the last remaining day of this campaign felt like the end of an action movie! We went from just inching toward the finishing line, to flying over it with leaps and bounds. Thank you so much for spreading the word, and making this project a reality!

Timeline -

Week 1-2:

  • Finalizing the back matter portion of the book
  • Prepping Backerkit surveys as we wait for the Kickstarter funds to come through

Week 3-4:

  • Sending out surveys
  • The digital version of Lazlo, along with the other digital tier reward levels will be available for download.
  • Sending out finalized files to the printer
  • I will be putting in the order/finalizing art prints

Following Months

  • Prep, printing, and shipping from China takes roughly 9-10 weeks in total. Once the books arrive, I will be putting 100% of all of my energy into packaging and shipping out these books to you.
  • Fingers crossed, we can get them to you earlier than the December 2018 deadline.

Funded!
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Aug 07, 2018 at 12:18:23 AM

Hi Gang,

We did it! I just got the "Project Funded" notification email. I still can't believe it! I'm about to hop on a plane, but wanted to write this quick thank you update. You all are amazing and thanks to you, this weird little sci-fi tale is going to see the light of day.

There's still 30 hours left, so let's keep our fingers crossed we don't have any dropped pledges. Any new backers we pull in now, go straight into production for issue 2! Thanks again everyone! I'm going to try to not hyperventilate now...

We made Featured!
almost 6 years ago – Mon, Aug 06, 2018 at 01:20:15 AM

Hey Gang,

As we reach the final days, we made it on "Featured" for the Kickstarter Comic section!

I've also seen the mentions and shares on social media sky rocket. You guys are amazing! In addition, some comic creators I adore have been kind enough to mention us, including Gabriel Rodriguez of Locke & Key, and Bryan Edward Hill of Postal and Detective Comics.

Regardless of what happens, the support and encouragement from all of you and the comics community has been beyond encouraging. We can't say thank you enough! But I still think we can pull this off. We've gone up 12% just since the last update! You're the best!

Lastly before I go, I wanted to highlight some other great projects out now:

Alex Automatic

Driven mad by illegal Government experiments, a young agent believes he is the robot super-spy hero of 70s TV show, Alex Automatic. This comic is crazy town in the best possible way, and the uber talented team of Fraser Campbell and James Corcoran are making something truly unique. Thanks to Twitter, Fraser has become someone I constantly enjoy talking comics and craft with. Give this book a look if you haven't already!

Gateway City

1925. The Gateway to the West is about to become a playground for the Universe's most wanted. Welcome to St. Louis. Artist/Writer Russel Mark Olsen has somehow managed to take an x-ray of my brain, and create a comic that has everything I love and throw it in one comic. A mash-up of noir and sci-fi, Gateway City is a tailspin adventure with cinematic nods to the 40's, 50's and 60's. Are you kidding me? Just look at this pin up, and check this out!

Masque

A cyberpunk comicbook featuring forbidden technology, alien magic, government conspiracy, and a masked vigilante who plots revolution by creative team John Schlim Jr and Ev Cantada. This book looks beautiful, and John is a quality creator who dabbles in a wide range of genres and styles. He is yet another example of this community churning out talented and supportive contributors.

Regardless of what happens, thank you so much for coming along this journey with us. We can do this!

Talk to you soon,

Andrew

Final Week!
almost 6 years ago – Wed, Aug 01, 2018 at 09:17:46 PM

Hey Gang,

As I write this, we're entering the final week of the campaign. When we put this story together, we knew it wouldn't be your typical quick elevator pitch style project. But part of the joy of DIY storytelling, and comics in general, is telling the tales you want to tell, how you want to tell them. So your faith in our bizarre little story means the world to us.

We're over 60%, with still a week to go. Not to mention we have the final surge days ahead of us. So I think we've got this! But let's keep getting that word out!

In other news, I wanted to point out some other great campaigns now live by friends of ours.

White Ash

If you’re a fan of Supernatural, Twin Peaks or Lord of the Rings, you’re going to love getting to know the mysterious town of White Ash.

Created by Charlie Stickney, White Ash is just a simple tale, old as time, of forbidden elf/ dwarf romance, set against the backdrop of the oncoming war with The Brood, a race of dragon/human hybrids, in a small mining town in Western Pennsylvania.

The Other Side of Nowhere Vol. 1

Marcel Dupree and Mark Henry have created a science fiction adventure inspired by Jack Kirby. It follows Cornelius as he questions his origin, taking him and his crew into a journey of the unknown in this sci-fi space adventure. Art and package look beautiful!

Well that's all for now. As I sign off here, I thought I'd end it with a little clip of Hanoi. I'm in Vietnam, and have been blown away by this amazing country. If you ever get a chance to visit, definitely do. As chaotic as it looks, I never saw anybody get hit or even get mad. In Los Angeles, it's constantly bumper to bumper, with accidents on a regular basis. I'm not mathematically sure how that works, but...

I've also definitely got some new story inspiration from traveling here that I hope to materialize in the near future. So keep an eye out for that as well.

Take care and thanks for the support. Onward!

Best,

Andrew
